Search for a Wedding Venue

We are planning to marry in March 2014, October 2014, or March 2015.  We are looking for a wedding venue that would allow us to bring our own caterer or that does not have an exorbitant kitchen buy-out fee.

The caterers we are considering include:

Below are the wedding venues we have on our list so far.  Once we start meeting with each venue and find out more information, I will post here.

We were initially looking to marry at the Wayfarer's Chapel so many of the wedding venues on our list are in south Los Angeles County.  We have now opened up to the possibility of having both ceremony and reception at wedding venues throughout Los Angeles County as long as we can provide our own caterer.
  • Wayfarer's Chapel, Palos Verdes - The cost of a wedding during the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) is $3,000.  All contributions are tax-deductible.  The wedding cost includes the use of the Chapel for two hours, the Chapel minister, wedding staff to guide rehearsal, wedding music (played by Chapel keyboardist), candles on the altar, and conferences. Website.
  • Harlyne J. Norris Pavilion, Rolling Hills Estates - Indoors.  Good for both ceremony and reception.  Depending on cost and our site visit, we would either have both ceremony and reception here or only reception here and ceremony at Wayfarer's Chapel.  I could not find information on their website regarding preferred caterers so I am assuming that we would be allowed to bring our own.  Website.
  •  The Ahlswede House, Signal Hill - Outdoors Only.  Good for both ceremony and reception.  They have a list of preferred vendors on their website but also seem flexible about bringing your own.  Website.
  • The Centre at Sycamore Plaza, Lakewood - You can probably have both ceremony and reception here but we are only considering it as a reception site.  Preferred caterer is Thank Goodness It's Sofia but we're hoping that we can bring our own caterer since it is a City facility or that if there is a kitchen buy-out fee that it is low.  Website.
  • Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, Cerritos - You can have both ceremony and reception here but we are only considering it as a reception site and having our ceremony at Wayfarer's Chapel.  Preferred caterer is Patina Restaurant Group but we are also hoping that we can bring our own caterer or that if there is a kitchen buy-out fee that it is low.
And finally, the venue of our dreams:
  • Vibiana, Los Angeles - Good for both ceremony and reception and you can bring your own caterer for a fee, which can vary.  As with other venues, I have not found specific pricing information but according to other reviews, this venue is really expensive so we'll see (sigh)...Website.

The Ring

We became engaged in May 2009 and after a nightmarish situation, I became ring-less.  So we put off any wedding planning until now...

I always knew that I would be very involved in picking my ring so a few weeks ago, I picked a ring.  We went to several jewelry stores and found one I LOVE at Zales.  Our experience there was very good.  They were very patient in working with us to arrange a payment plan that was appropriate for us and we really appreciated that.  Here it is:
Description: 1 carat total weight engagement ring in 14K white gold.

Paying for the ring:

Zales credit card with zero interest for six months plus monthly cash payments.
